Day 1, Week 6: Hundred Pushup Program

First day of week 6 of the hundred pushup program:

This was like doing a series of 4 exhaustion tests, minus the mental resolve to push to collapse, followed by one last full out exhaustion test. I think that there were quite a few exhaustion collapses.

Pushups: 56-45-42-40-[56], 239 total.

Week 5 Exhaustion Test results

Got to about 40 or 45 pushups before I had to start breaking up the set by pausing at the top. Probably could have squeezed out more than 61, but lacked the resolve.

Set tally, "-"=60-second recovery period. "[#]"=max

Abdominal muscles still sore from yesterday's 16 mile run. That's pretty atypical.

Did the week 2 end-of-week test earlier in the day. Had to reset after 10 pushups because of my daughter trying to jump on my back to "assist." Test was 47 pushups.

Pushups: 25-17-17-15-[29], 113 total.
2 additional 10 pushup sets after.

How much does a pushup weigh?

http://www.fit36.com/archives/how-much-does-a-pushup-weigh/

Given that I'm doing the 100 Pushups Challenge, this is an interesting question. The answer in the article is 65-75%.

Interestingly enough, the Flying Pig in Cincinnati has an associated event (for the 5k, 10, half and full) Pump and Run. The benchmark weight for a 19-39 year old male is 75% of body weight.

Day 1, Week 1: Hundred Pushup Program

I've decided to use the hundred pushups program to structure my strength exercises in general: pushups, situps, bicep curls (30 lbs, each arm), and dumbbell lifts (30 lbs, each arm).

My max reps at the end were the absolute limit. On the situps, I slowed down, but kept going for 51 reps. Ouch that hurt.

Set tally, "-"=1-minute recovery period. "[#]"=max

Pushups: 10-10-8-6-[25], 59 total.
Situps : 10-10-8-6-[51], 85 total.
Curls : 10-10-8-6-[ 9], 43 total.
Lifts : 10-10-8-6-[10], 44 total.
